Counseling for Medicare and dual-eligible Medicaid patients is required at the time of dispensing under certain conditions and with certain medications.  This one hour module will acquaint learners with specific requirements for counseling, will define and sequence the steps in patient medication counseling, and will share best practices.  This session will provide audiovisual case examples to illustrate the practice of counseling.

At the end of this course, the physician prescriber will be able to:

  2. Correctly identify the components and sequence the steps in delivery of medication counseling;

Technology Requirements

To access the course materials, you must use a computer with an internet connection and an online browser that supports the Adobe® Flash® Player version 10.  Mozilla® Firefox, Windows Internet Explorer 9 or higher, or Apple® Safari® for desktop are acceptable browsers.   

Successful Completion: Learners must complete all practice based activity components including the audiovisual presentations, post-test, and Activity Evaluation.  Participants must receive a score of at least 70% on the post-test in order to receive credit.  The post-test may be taken up to three (3) times. A link to the Activity Evaluation will be available on the confirmation once a learner has successfully completed the post-test. In order to receive CE credits, learners must complete the Activity Evaluation.  Statements of CE Credit will be available electronically via CPE Monitor within sixty (60) days of completion of the activity.
